Take advantage of the educational and networking opportunities at the Triple Play 2008 REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo, and help others at the same time. Donations for the Atlantic City Rescue Mission are being accepted at Triple Play, taking place December 9-11, 2008. Canned goods, diapers, tissues, and other nonperishable items will be accepted at the Messages & Information Desk on Level 2 of the Atlantic City Convention Center to help those in need. November 3, 2008 - In response to growing consumer demand for environmentally friendly homes and building practices, the New Jersey, New York State and Pennsylvania associations of REALTORS® are providing their members with the opportunity to earn the new NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®' (NAR) Green Designation. During the Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo, REALTORS® will be able to take a designation course that provides an in-depth understanding of "what green means" for every aspect of real estate.

Educational Opportunities Abound at Triple Play

This year's Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo consists of an exciting array of educational and designation programs dedicated to various interests. Attend one of 80 sessions on topics such as appraisal, sales and marketing, professional development, and brokerage and management. For example, on Wednesday, December 10, you can attend "Short Sales, the Big Foreclosure Secret" with Phillip Tesoriero in the morning and "Creative Strategies for a Slow Market: Helping Consumers Achieve Their Investment Goals" with Debbie Long in the afternoon.

The designation programs being offered at Triple Play include: Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR); Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB); Certified Residential Specialist (CRS); Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® GREEN designation.

Robert Kennedy Jr. to Speak at Triple Play

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will give the keynote address at the eighth annual Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo, which will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center December 9-11, 2008. Sponsored by the New Jersey, New York State and Pennsylvania associations of REALTORS®, Triple Play is the largest annual real estate event in the region.

Slated as one of the highlights of the convention, Kennedy's Grand Assembly keynote address will focus on environmental issues. In his presentation "A Contract with Our Future," Kennedy will offer advice on how businesses can utilize sound environmental policies and procedures to grow, save money and help preserve the environment for the future. The Grand Assembly will take place on Wednesday, December 10, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

A renowned environmentalist, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was named one of Time magazine's "Heroes for the Planet" for his success helping Riverkeeper lead the fight to restore the Hudson River. The group's achievement helped spawn more than 130 Waterkeeper organizations across the globe. Kennedy serves as chief prosecuting attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper and president of Waterkeeper Alliance. He is also a clinical professor and supervising attorney at Pace University School of Law's Environmental Litigation Clinic. Earlier in his career, he served as assistant district attorney in New York City.

Kennedy is the author of several books, including the New York Times bestseller "Crimes Against Nature" (2004) and "The Riverkeepers" (1997). His writings have appeared in the New York Times, Newsweek, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Times, Esquire, The Nation, Outside magazine and numerous other publications.

A graduate of Harvard University, Kennedy studied at the London School of Economics, received his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School, and a master's degree in environmental law from Pace University School of Law.

Kennedy's address is just one of many exciting events that will take place at Triple Play. The convention provides a unique opportunity for commercial and residential brokers and salespeople, property managers, appraisers, counselors and other real estate professionals to converge in one place to network, attend educational events and hear from nationally recognized speakers. This year, more than 7,500 people are expected to attend. The Trade Expo will feature more than 400 booths showcasing the latest real estate technology and products. New GREEN Elective for RSPS to be Offered at Triple Play

In response to growing consumer demand for green homes and building practices, the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR) has introduced a new Green designation for REALTORS®. The designation, which will be offered at the Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo, will help home buyers and sellers who care about energy efficiency and environmentally sound building practices identify REALTORS® who can help them meet their green home goals.

A new path to earning the Resort and Second Home Specialist (RSPS) certification has been created as well. Now fulfilling the GREEN designation will qualify in place of the required elective courses necessary to obtain the RSPS certification. Registration is now open for the 8th annual Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo, which will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center Dec. 9-11, 2008. Sponsored by the New Jersey, New York State and Pennsylvania associations of REALTORS®, Triple Play is the largest annual real estate event in the region.

First Steps in Going Green

This year the Triple Play convention committee is proud to announce our Going Green initiative. Our goal for going green was pursued with a mixture of idealism and realism. Though we know we can't be completely green in our first year, we'll be looking for new ways to do our part to stay committed to this vital initiative in the years to come.

This year, look for the "Now on recycled paper" bug on all professionally printed convention materials.

In addition, the committee has decided to forgo the annual save-the-date postcard, which will save over 100,000 pieces of paper and conserves energy that is used during the printing process. Do your part with our going green initiative. Please only print this email if necessary.
