Having some understanding of the systems in a house will empower any real estate professional. Imagine understanding why some issues should be considered a defect while others are not. Better yet, having enough knowledge will help you know what questions to ask a contractor and/or inspector will increase your value as an agent. For example, “How can I tell if the wiring in the walls is good, if I cannot see them?” If a contractor/inspector cannot answer this question in a fashion that is easy to understand without alarming anyone, they are the wrong person for the job.
